Real Time (20th -21st June 2004)

The artist Sandra Schmidt and I spent a total of 36 hours behind the windows of the Onomato gallery in Düsseldorf.
After spending a night in the gallery, the ringing of an alarm clock marked the beginning of the performance on June 20th at 7 a.m.. From this moment on, each of us used a computer keyboard to document as much of our current thoughts as possible. No word was spoken between us. The texts appeared on screens behind the gallery windows facing the street and were hence visible only from the outside. This meant that once a piece of text was typed it was virtually impossible to change it. The current time was superimpsed to the text in regular intervals. Passers-by were able to compare what we had been writing simultaneously. The performance ended after 24 hours.
